About Boher CDA
Founded in 2012
The Boher Community Development Association (BCDA) is run entirely by local volunteers, for the benefit of everyone who lives here.
Why BCDA exists
Our founding object is simple and deliberately broad:
To operate as a voluntary community development organisation working for the overall good of the community and all those residing in the locality, and to manage and operate the running of the community centre.
In practice that means two things: putting the shoulder to whatever wheel improves life in Boher, and keeping the community centre itself open, maintained and available to the people who need it.
Who we are
Boher Community Development Association (BCDA) is a voluntary, community-led organisation working for the good of everyone who lives in Boher. We exist to represent the community in dealings with local authorities and other agencies, to bring in funding and support for local projects, and to manage and run Boher Community Centre for the benefit of the whole area.
How we're run
BCDA is entirely volunteer-run. Anyone in the locality aged 18 or over can be nominated onto the committee, and the community can co-opt up to five additional members as needed. Committee members serve three-year terms and can be re-elected up to three times (nine years in total), keeping a healthy mix of experience and fresh input over time.
An Executive Committee: President, Chair, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer and PRO - is elected each year to look after day-to-day business, with everything reported back to the wider membership.

Open to everyone
Every resident of the locality is automatically a member of the community BCDA represents. Our Annual General Meeting is held early each year, and any resident can attend, take part in the discussion, and stand for election. Extraordinary General Meetings can also be called if an urgent matter needs the community's input.
Accountable and not-for-profit
BCDA is a registered charity. No committee member is paid for their role, and any income raised goes solely towards our work in the community - never to individual members. Our accounts are prepared annually. If BCDA were ever wound up, any remaining assets would pass to another local charitable cause, never to any individual.
